JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS

BASIC FUNCTION:
The Director of
Information Systems will establish and maintain an effective Information
Services Organization to satisfy the organization's requirements and, to
maintain and increase the organization's competitiveness within the industry.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General areas of
responsibility include: management and financial information systems, word
processing and office automation, data and voice communications and, subsystems
that are particular to this business and industry.
Specific duties
include: conducting detailed analysis of the organizations information and
telecommunications systems as a basis for recommendations to improve and
enhance the systems capabilities; oversees the selection, implementation and
completion of new MIS and telecommunications systems to accommodate the
organizations growing financial and administrative needs; identifying
development, enhancement and maintenance priorities for application areas for
the next five years and, maintaining the schedules for implementation of
applications; prioritizing the demands of the users; recommending "make or
buy" strategies for key applications based on economic and/or technical
analysis; developing and implementing a uniform organization-wide strategy for
equipment, operating systems and communications; developing annual budgets for
hardware, software, personnel, outside contractors, etc.; reviewing proposed
versus actual budgets and deciding appropriate actions; coordinating all
organization dealings with outside vendors of hardware and software, systems
consultants, and contractors; prepare and evaluate all RFP's.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
The Director will
report directly to the Administrator, and functionally to the Administrative
Committee. He/she will work with the firm's Administrative Committee and senior
administrators to develop the firm's management information systems and stay
abreast of technology developments to ensure that adequate information services
are provided.
SUPERVISION
EXERCISED:
Supervises personnel
responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all data processing
and telecommunications equipment and systems to ensure the timely and efficient
delivery of services to the end user.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a
Bachelor's degree, ideally in either Business, Accounting, Finance or Computer
Sciences and, although not required, a Master's degree in Computer Science or
Information Systems. Minimum 10 years of management information systems and
business experience and a minimum of 5 years of recent management experience.
Must possess knowledge of data processing, word processing, office automation,
applications development, and telephone and telecommunications systems in a
professional environment. Required to interface will all members of the
organization, being open to their suggestions and responsive to their
perceptions of the needs of the organization. Flexible and capable of
acclimating to diverse situations and personalities.
